The 4th Test between India and England had a surprising turnaround as it progressed. The England team had come back well in the 1st innings and scored 353 runs on a very slow and dry pitch at the JSCA in Ranchi. It was Joe Root who was the star performer in the game with a magnificent hundred. The Indians might have faltered in the start but a great partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav for the 8th wicket helped in reducing the England lead to just 46 runs.

The Indians capitalized on this as they created havoc among the England batters and got them all out for 145. The target set by the visitors was 192 runs, which could still be a tricky total on a dry wicket. The Indian openers started well, but the England bowlers still made some big breakthroughs. However, the 6th wicket partnership between Shubman Gill and Jurel made sure the home side chased it down and sealed the 5-match Test series 3-1 with one game to go.

Dhruv jurel

Dhruv Jurel the new star of Indian cricket

This whole match belonged to none other than Dhruv Jurel. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper was playing only his 2nd Test match for India. Jurel looked like a seasoned campaigner throughout the game with the bat and behind the stumps. His 90 runs from 149 deliveries was the game-changing moment for the Indian team. He might have missed out on a well-deserved hundred, but it was still an impactful innings.

That was still not enough for the young batter from Uttar Pradesh as he also formed an important partnership with Shubman Gill as well and hit the winning runs for his side. It is no surprise that he won the Player of the Match award for this exceptional performance in only his second Test match in international cricket.

Jurel has showcased his talent on the big stage already. This is perhaps one of the best performances for a young player playing his first series. Jurel had already impressed us in the Indian Premier League with his finishing and he has done it once again this time in the longest format. With this, the Indians have now officially won the series with this 5-wicket win in Ranchi. This is also the first series loss for Ben Stokes as well, who has failed to conquer the sub-continent like the earlier captains.
