‘India abhi se daar jaayenge’ -Fans react as Trent Boult returns to New Zealand ODI squad after 11 months ahead of 2023 World Cup

In big news coming in for New Zealand cricket, Trent Boult will be making a comeback into Kiwi colours ahead of the ODI World Cup. After an 11-month hiatus, Boult will come back and play. The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) did not grant the left-arm pacer a complete central contract. However, he was offered a differential contract that allows him to participate in T20 Leagues across the globe while being obligated to return to New Zealand for significant tournaments.

Boult will play his first ODI after almost a year. He has been included in the squad against England. Along with Boult, fellow speedster Kyle Jamieson also got a recall back into the Kiwi setup. the series will start in Cardiff on September 8. Tom Latham will lead the ODI squad. He has come in after recovering from back surgery.

“We’re delighted to include Kyle in this squad alongside his earlier selection for the T20 squads to play the UAE and England,” Head coach Gary Stead said in a release.“He’s been working extremely hard on his rehabilitation following back surgery and we’re looking forward to seeing him back playing on the international stage,” Stead added. “It’s also great to welcome Trent back into our ODI unit as he begins his preparation towards the World Cup in India,” The Kiwi coach further said.

Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham will not be a part of the England series as they both await the birth of their first child. Kane Williamson will still be part of the side as a mentor. He will continue his rehab following surgery for his ruptured knee ligament that took place in April. Williamson did not take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 barring the first game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he was injured.
