Former legendary South African pacer, Allan Donald has tendered an apology to Rahul Dravid for sledging him during India’s 1997 tour of South Africa.

The former South African fast bowler hurled abuses at Dravid, who was smashing him right, left, and center during an ODI match on the tour. The South African bowler has now issued an apology on the same and wants to have a night out with the former Indian skipper.

“There was one ugly incident in Durban that I don’t want to talk about. He (Rahul Dravid) and Sachin were smoking us to all parts. I overstepped the mark a little bit. I’ve just nothing but massive respect for Rahul. I would like to go out and sit with Rahul and say sorry to him again about what happened that day. I just had to do something silly that brought his wicket actually. But

I still apologize for what I said that day. What a guy, what a great bloke. So, Rahul, if you are listening. I would love to have a night out with you,” said Donald in an interview with Sony Sports Network as quoted by HT.

Later, the Indian head coach was also asked to have his opinion on the same, to which he gave a classic response.

“Absolutely, I look forward to it, especially if he is paying,” said Dravid jokingly.

Rahul Dravid is currently serving as the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. He is in Bangladesh along with the team for three ODIs and a two-match Test series. Unfortunately, India lost the ODI series 1-2 but are in a pretty strong position in the ongoing first Test match.

India notched a formidable score of 404 runs on the board in the first innings. The likes of Shreyas Iyer (86), Cheteshwar Pujara (90), and Ravichandran Ashwin (58) made significant contributions with the bat.

In reply, Bangladesh have lost six wickets for just 97 runs on the board.
