Rajasthan Royals (RR) star young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is in red-hot form in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, however, it didn’t help his team much as their chances to qualify for the playoffs are almost over. Jaiswal has scored 575 runs so far in the season in 13 matches at a brilliant average of 47.92 which also included a century.

Meanwhile, former legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Jaiswal and said that he has done well for the team as he is consistently scoring  40 or 50 runs in just 20-25 deliveries and it has made him very happy as he also loved his technique a lot.

“If a batter scores 40-50 runs in T20 in 20-25 balls, he has done well for the team. But if he’s an opener, you’d want him to play 15 overs. If he scores a century by the time, your team total would easily cross the 190-200 mark. That’s why, the way Yashasvi has batted this season, it has made me very happy. He’s a technical batter as well,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

It’s important to be in form on the debut match: Sunil Gavaskar

Jaiswal is currently sitting on the 3rd spot in the Orange Cap winner list, however, there’s a doubt if he will get to play more matches or not. However, Gavaskar further added and said that the youngster is now ready to make his international debut and the Indian team management shouldn’t wait more to give him an opportunity

“I think he’s ready and should be given a chance. When a player is in form, and then he gets the chance, his confidence is also skyrocketed. Especially in an international debut, there’s always doubt, ‘Am I ready for international standard?’ If your form isn’t good at the time, your doubt increases. So, it’s important to be in form at that time,” Gavaskar further said.
