India’s Pistol shooting veteran, Jaspal Rana wants the National Rifle Association of India and the shooters in the country to specifically stop buying shooting products from England and refrain from using them, henceforth. He made the remark after England decided to exclude Shooting as a sport from the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022.

Till now, barring the 1970 Edinburgh edition of the Games, shooting has always featured in the quadrennial event before the commonwealth games federation and the Birmingham organizers decided to do away with the “optional sport”.

The England Board has decided to flex their muscles and show their power by eliminating shooting as a sport from the quadrennial games as a pretext of not being able to compete with the Indian shooters. Rana feels that the Indian contingent are way better than their English counterparts and that the English have decided to quash Indian  shooting ambitions by eliminating the sport.

Rana went on to say that a lot of people like Abhinav Bindra , Anjali Vedpathak , Suma Shirur and others have brought laurels for the country over a long period of time at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. People from England were jealous of this and were not able to take it sportively and decided that the best way to shut down Indian dominance was to eliminate the sport.

Rana Jaspal went on to say that this would be a good step to take by shunning the use of English equipment. He said although the drastic step will be difficult to implement immediately, this would certainly serve as a path in the right direction.

He said England trying to show of their power is not going to do anyone any good and drew parallel with cricket saying that he is happy that the Indian Cricket Board are a powerhouse in the Cricket administration circles. He said that if England were a powerhouse in Cricket and India was not then the England Board would have shut down cricket in India.
