Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is the best in the business with his combination of orthodox shots and 360 degree hitting as he blazed his way through to a third T20I hundred which helped India steamroll Sri Lanka by 91 runs. Suryakumar played a stunning knock of 112 off 51 balls with seven fours and nine sixes that helped India to reach 228.

After the match ended, Suryakumar was interviewed by Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid. He talked to Dravid about his knock and also about what preparation he puts behind the scenes in the T20I format. Suryakumar also said that the coach told him to express himself and also play his natural game. The right-handed batter made sure that the Lankans had no idea what hit them.

It is very difficult to pick one innings – Suryakumar Yadav to Rahul Dravid

“It is lovely to have someone here with me who as a young kid growing up, did not watch me bat. And I hope you didn’t, I am sure you didn’t,” “Surya, exceptional. The form that you have been in – every time I think I have not seen a better T20 inning, you show us something even better. Of all these innings that you have played over the last year that I have had the privilege of watching and enjoying, can you pick one or two that is the best?” Rahul Dravid asked Suryakumar Yadav.

To which he replied, “I enjoyed batting in all the difficult situations. I can’t pick any one inning. It is actually difficult to pick one, I just enjoyed myself. I am just doing the same things that I did last year. I have said before as well, I just try and enjoy when I go in to bat and express myself as much as possible. In those difficult situations when other teams try and take the game off, I try and take them on. If it works well for me and the team, I am happy.”

The Men in Blue set out to Rajkot to right the wrongs that they had made in Lucknow. After a splendid batting performance, the bowlers stepped up and delivered with Arshdeep Singh picking up three wickets and Umran Malik, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal picking up two wickets each. Axar Patel also chipped in with a wicket.
