Jessica Pegula won her second-round match in the US Open 2023 against Patricia Maria Tig 6-3, 6-1. In the third round, Pegula will face Elina Svitolina of Ukraine. After the match, Pegula thanked the crowd for supporting her in the match. Before Pegula’s match, the Tennis sensation and the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz had played Lloyd Harris in the second round.

Speaking about it, Pegula said “It is weird I never thought I would be getting used to Ashe but somehow, I am. It just comes with playing in a lot more stadiums in front of a lot more crowds. Thanks, everyone for staying tonight. I appreciate the support; it is hard to follow Carlos… it is a tough act to follow man I don’t know why. I don’t think I am ever going to do that justice,” and appreciated Alcaraz.

‘Hopefully we can try to get a win’ – Jessica Pegula

Pegula further talked about her partner Austin Krajicek. “Austin and I have not won a mixed match in like two years, so I hope everyone can come out and support us because we are trying to get a win. So, to be honest, I haven’t played that many mixed matches because we keep losing. We made semis here like two years ago and since then, just no wins. So hopefully we can try to get a win,” said Pegula.

Pegula also spoke about the importance of practicing on days off. “I honestly love coming to play on off days. I think it is great practice. It is time to work on things. It helps me stay competitive you know, I feel like waiting around a lot of times your anxiety builds up because you are just thinking about your match,” added Pegula.

Pegula said that she is not a great mixed player and would like to stay competitive. “And I like that I can go out and stay competitive… as long as I’m feeling good. But yeah, I am not the greatest mixed player, so we are just going to try to go out there and have some fun.”
