“I Asked For 71st Century But…”- A post from a die-hard Virat Kohli fan takes internet by storm
In the third ODI against Sri Lanka, India recorded a 317-run victory against the Islanders. It was Virat Kohli who ran the show for the Men in Blue with an unbeaten knock of 166 against the Men from the Emerald Isle. This was the fifth time Kohli had crossed the 150-run mark in ODIs. Meanwhile, a fan of Virat Kohli shared on Twitter that he got wedded the same day Kohli scored his 74th International century on Sunday.
The fan who earlier was watching one of India’s games from the stadium put out a banner saying that he will not wed until the former India captain scores his 71st international ton. Kohli had not scored a century in three years and hence there was a long wait for his 71st international century. In the 2022 Asia Cup edition, the right-handed batter ended the drought with his maiden T20I hundred against Afghanistan and got back amongst runs.

After Kohli scored his 74th international ton, the fan posted again on Twitter and wrote: “I asked for the 71st century but he scored 74th on my special day”, He put out a picture of him dressed in traditional attire. This post has taken the internet by storm. It has got 1 million views. With the ODI World Cup coming up, Kohli’ form will augur well for India as they hunt for an elusive World title.

Kohli got the big scores at the start of 2023 itself. He has scored two hundreds against the Sri Lankans in the ODI series. One of the hundreds came at Guwahati in the first ODI and then Kohli scored another hundred in the third ODI. He scored 283 runs in the three-match series. He has even got the player of the match award to show for his efforts.
In the match, Kohli made a lot of records. He broke into the top five run-getters in ODI cricket. He joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting and Sanath Jayasuriya. He made 10 hundreds against Sri Lanka after that knock which was the most number of ODI hundreds against a team. He also scored 21 hundreds against in 101 innings which became the most number of hundreds in a country.
