The Indian Premier League 2023 has been one of the best IPLs to watch. The action has been amazing and high-octane. There have been n number of last-ball and last-over thrillers this season. The games have gone down to the wire and have contributed to the heart rate of the fans going up. It has been a tournament which is more enjoyable than ever due to 12 playing venues and also the impact player rule.
As we get to the end of another IPL season, Aakash Chopra has talked about two changes that he thinks should be implemented going into the next season. 1. Introduction of the Bonus Points for winning a game with a huge margin. NRR is absolute but over 14 games is a tough math to understand. Bonus point is a tangible reward for playing significantly better. And also, keeps the interest alive for longer. 2. Provision of starting the games in the final leg at the same time. Today, LSG has the advantage of knowing the exact math to go over CSK on NRR…because CSK plays first. Same for tomorrow depending on today’s results.
Here is the tweet:
There are two changes that I’d propose for next season’s IPL

These are the two changes that he talked about for the 2024 IPL season. There were a lot of varied reactions to his thoughts as some of the fans agreed. Others disagreed and some offered other inputs which could go on to make the next edition of the IPL better. This is the 16th edition of the IPL. The home-and-away format was back in India after three years. The games were played in 12 venues in India.
The IPL has been a big part of the Indian Cricket System since 2008. The league has grown from strength to strength over the years. It is a ten-team tournament at present. The tournament started of with eight teams. The league has helped unearth wonderful talents for the next generation of Indian cricket. The advent of the IPL has reduced fear in the minds of young cricketers who have no qualms of playing in front of packed crowds in India.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
First point is like giving 8 runs to the ball smashed out of the ground, so it's not gonna happen in this lifetime. Second point is interesting, but at the same time viewership might get drop, two match side by side, and you know how important is that.

Not agree with second point. Both teams at the same points towards the ending stages depends on how they played whole league games and slightly on luck. Audience will also not be getting to watch both matches if teams are playing simultaneously.

No.2 is impossible. Won't be implemented. And this is the romantics of the league which makes it interesting. And what about viewership if games played at the sametime? EOD we all know IPL is about business more than cricket.

Team & subs-list should be decided and communcated before the toss.
toss lossing team can make an additional swap before the first ball. impact player sub allowed during the match for both.
toss impact is reduced & team list would shows what they would do after wining the toss.— sachinG (@sachingodind) May 20, 2023
Stop IPL, save cricket! #CricketTwitter

1. Other than the fans and cringeworthy ads and 🤑 , NRR is what makes IPL more interesting than other leagues.
2. Will @BCCI gift a TV for fans to watch 2 matches at the same time. Some of us are fan of IPL and cricket in general.
The only change in next year IPL should be -…— g0vind (@faoi_thuairim) May 20, 2023
Wonderful suggestions @cricketaakash.
The last match for each team should be played simultaneously. That would mean 5 matches being played at the same time (maybe a bit of revenue loss on TV advt), and no team getting an advantage. Similar to how FIFA World Cup last group…— Devroop Dhar (@DevroopD) May 20, 2023
1. remove impact player rule. If continued, we might not see all rounders after few years.
2. Measure waist height and player height to intersect these with ball tracking to maintain consistency.
3. Penalize batting team everytime non-striker leaves crease before ball is…— Trilok Reddy (@3lok_cricketfan) May 20, 2023
