The Hyderabad team were not at their best in the last few seasons of the Indian T20 League. They have won only nine matches of the last 28 matches that they played. Tom Moody coached the team from 2013 to 2019 until Trevor Bayliss replaced him in 2020. The Australian had a great stint with the Hyderabad team as the team won the 2016 edition of the Indian T20 League under him. He returned to the franchise as director of cricket in the 2021 edition and was made the head coach for the 2022 edition.
However, things did not go well for the Aussie coach as the team finished eighth last season winning six of their fourteen matches. The team has now revealed that the West Indian legend Brian Lara will now wear the coach’s cap. He has been a part of the coaching staff team of the franchise and has now been elevated to the head coach.

The Hyderabad team is one of the reputed franchises and sometimes people call it an underrated team. They qualified for the playoffs in all seasons from 2016 to 2020. However, post-2020, the team has stooped to the lowest level possible, winning only nine matches in the 2021 and 2022 seasons combined. Two of their three wins in the year 2021 came in the last five matches of that season and 2022 was a quite different one as they did better than in 2021.
ESPNCricinfo earlier reported that the team have ended their stint with Tom Moody and the Hyderabad team has mutually parted ways. The reports further added that the Caribbean legend might replace him as the head coach of the team.
“It is learned that both Moody and Sunrisers decided to not extend his contract. There is no confirmation yet on who could replace Moody, but ESPNcricinfo understands former West Indies captain Brian Lara, who was the strategic advisor and batting coach with Sunrisers in the 2022 season, could be a frontrunner,” the reports from ESPNCricinfo said earlier.
However, the team announced Brian Lara as their head coach and took it to Twitter to reveal the same. Fans are thrilled about the new journey and believe that the team will find themself out of the mud.
