‘Hendricks ne bacha liya Multans ko’ – Fans react as Multan Sultans edge out Islamabad United by 5 wickets during Pakistan Super League 2024 clash
The Multan Sultan bowlers put in a fantastic effort to keep Islamabad United under 150. They didn’t give anything away during the middle overs and were excellent using the new ball and at the end of the game. With numbers of 3/19, Mohammad Ali was once again the highlight, registering two three-fers over two games. During the powerplay, he jabbered the ball about before returning and finishing it up in style.
Olly Stone and David Willey were also excellent against Islamabad United. Usama Mir was extraordinary today as he removed Jordan Cox, who was beginning to pose a threat, with a brilliant middle-overs stint. However, this isn’t the easiest pitch to bat against and might be a tricky target to chase.
The 68-run stand between Salman Agha and Jordan Cox was the only positive from the batting perspective for the visitors. Their amazing knocks have surely given the Islamabad side some hope of keeping the hosts down. Apart from them, only two other batters managed a score in double digits.
Reeza Hendricks incredible knock powers Multan Sultan to victory!
Mohammad Rizwan had pressure on him early on, with the young Shah brothers bowling an outstanding spell. Naseem Shah dismissed Dawid Malan early on which was a huge positive for the visitors.
Reeza Hendricks joined the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter and they weathered the strong Islamabad bowling attack. Their 71-run stand looked enough as a base for other batters to finish off the proceedings. However, the number of dot balls may have been costly. This is because the spin duo of Imad Wasim and skipper Shadab Khan bowled incredibly tight lines. The duo was able to scalp two wickets and conceded 57 runs in their 8 overs.
Reeza Hendricks targeted his bowlers pretty well during his 58-run knock. He completed his fifty in the 17th over and provided the ante, the run chase needed. Hendricks got out in the next over but Iftikhar Ahmed made sure he finished the job for his side.
