The 20-20 World Cup 2022 group stages are coming to a business end with Ireland staging a massive upset over the two-time 20-20 World Champions West Indies. The Netherlands and Sri Lanka have confirmed their spots in the Super 12 stage. Zimbabwe pipped Scotland to confirm their spot.

The first match will take place between last year’s finalists on October 22 Australia and New Zealand which will be held in Sydney. Another encounter will take place on the same day at Perth between England and Afghanistan. On October 23, the big clash will take place between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan in Melbourne.

Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, Speaking to Quint, Suresh Raina gave high compliments to Babar but felt that star India pacer, Arshdeep Singh, will be the man to mark as he will dismiss the Pakistan skipper in the match against India.

“He is a good skipper and a really good cricketer. He has done really well for his team. But hopefully, when he comes to play against us, Arshdeep Singh will get him out,” he said.

Babar Azam has looked at sea against left-arm bowlers

India will be looking to avenge the 2021 20-20 World Cup loss to Pakistan which the Men in Green won by 10 wickets in the United Arab Emirates courtesy of three wickets from Shaheen Afridi and 79 off 55 balls and 68 off 52 balls from Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam.

Babar has been off-colour recently and has managed 6 runs in two innings against Arshdeep in as many balls, including one boundary and three dot balls. This will be the third meeting in the quick time since they clashed twice in the Asia Cup which ended in a stalemate.

However, Babar has shown to be circumspect against left-arm pacers. He has been dismissed 12 times by the left-arm bowlers in the last two years, at a strike rate of just 133 in T20 cricket. He will be wanting to get out of the rut in form and score the runs for Pakistan come the big game against India.
