The war between Ramiz Raja and the Pakistan Cricket Board is not over as the two are at loggerheads again. The PCB went through a reset which meant Ramiz was sacked as the chairman of the board. Then Shahid Afridi was appointed as chief selector along with Abdul Razzaq in a stop-gap arrangement.

The cricket board has intimidated Raja and said that they would file a lawsuit against him. Despite dropping the hint, Ramiz is fighting fire with fire as he is still taking potshots at the board and is still unhappy with the way he was removed as chairman. Ramiz and the board did not see eye to eye, and they had no proper working equation.

I can only suggest this- Ramiz Raja

The former PCB chief also stated that it was not wise for Shahid Afridi to perform his duties in a hostile environment like this. “In my opinion, he shouldn’t work in such environment. I can only suggest this,” Ramiz told Capital TV. When asked to elaborate, Ramiz added: “If I have to join any institution, I’ll do a bit of research. Who is the boss, who are his subordinates, will I be comfortable or not, will I get any reward, why do I want to work, what is the purpose?”

Ramiz was fired as chairman after Pakistan suffered a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of England. When Afridi came into the hot seat, he brought back Sarfaraz Ahmed into the Test side and the cricketer repaid the faith with runs in the Test series against New Zealand, scoring 335 runs in four innings across two tests.

Afridi, with all his experience, would help Pakistan to go the distance in Test cricket. If his tenure is extended, he would be of service to the Men in Green for the upcoming ODI over World Cup in India. Pakistan will be looking to start afresh against New Zealand in the ODIs after drawing the two Tests at Karachi.
