Mitchell Starc was on fire in the first hour of Day 4 of the third Ashes Test. On an overcast morning at Headingley, the left-arm pacer started brilliantly with the ball. The tall pacer looked in his rhythm with brilliant movement through the air. The Australian pacer swung the ball away from the left-handers and continuously asked questions. Starc had troubled Ben Duckett throughout his stay in the middle. Even at the start of day 4, Starc was excellent with the ball.

For Crawley, the ball swung in. The trademark inswinging yorker nearly got Crawley, but it was not meant to be. Starc targeted the stumps of both the openers. As captain Cummins bowled from the other end, Starc was a lot more lethal from his end. Starc didn’t try bouncers and stuck to the good-length deliveries. At times, Starc went full. The variation in lengths helped Starc. Though there were some close chances and missed opportunities, Starc did what was asked of him. The pacer gave his everything in the spell.

Back-to-back wickets for Starc

Starc targeted the stumps and increased the chances of getting wickets. On one such delivery, Starc went a tad bit too full and trapped Ben Duckett’s leg before wicket. Though the English opener reviewed the call, the decision was in favour of Australia. Duckett survived a similar dismissal due to the umpire’s call. But Starc finally got his man. England interestingly sent Moeen up the order. The Southpaw entered the middle to face the music.

Starc troubled Moeen throughout his spell with his trademark outswingers. Starc continuously clocked speeds of over 140 kmph and troubled the batters. On one such delivery, Starc bowled a good length delivery at the stumps. Moeen had no clue about the delivery and his stumps were uprooted. Starc roared and Australians celebrated the wicket. The early spell from Starc helped Australia to dismiss two batters early in the day. It was a lethal spell from Starc, and he was finally rewarded.
