Yashasvi Jaiswal set the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 alight with his sublime batting. The Mumbai youngster amassed 625 runs at an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61. He struck five half-centuries and one century. The 21-year-old has shown glimpses of some form in IPL 2021 and 2022. When he was with the Rajasthan Royals camp, they knew they had hit a goldmine. He was seen hard at work in his first practice session with the Indian team in England.

Jaiswal got into the Indian Test squad for the Test Championship final as a standby. Ruturaj Gaikwad who was initially drafted as a standby dropped out of the marquee clash as he is getting married. Jaiswal has also had a wonderful domestic season for the Mumbai side. He has been among the runs and that means he has got into the Indian Test side as a standby on merit and not on the basis of a breakthrough IPL season.
Jaiswal also interacted and took tips with Virat Kohli
When Virat Kohli speaks, everyone respect and hear it just like Yashasvi Jaiswal. ❤️pic.twitter.com/QDTVk97zsN

The Test Championship final will be played in England for the second time running. India and Australia will be playing the big clash between June 7-11. The match will be held at the Oval. A reserve day will be used in the final. The Duke ball will be the one that will be in operation as the game will be played at a neutral venue. India lost the first Test Championship final to New Zealand which was held at Edgbaston.
India will not break their 9-year major world title drought by getting their hands on the Test Championship and also the Test Mace. Australia will not be an easy opposition to beat as they will have the side. The Kangaroos will aim to use all their experiences from their Ashes encounters come the big game. India will hope not to repeat the mistakes from the 2021 Test Championship final.
The game will be a big litmus test for Rohit Sharma as he has not won a major trophy in his first year as India skipper. He will want to get into winning momentum before the start of the home World Cup in India in 2023. The World Cup was last held on Indian shores in 2011.
