Tottenham striker Harry Kane scored a brace on Sunday (August 28) and led his team to a 2-0 victory against the newly promoted Nottingham Forest. With this win, Tottenham has maintained their unbeaten start to the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Kane, with this double strike, has taken his Premier League goal-scoring tally to 187 goals.  It was only last week that the Tottenham vice-captain crossed former Manchester City legendary striker Sergio Aguero when he scored against the Wolves, and now, with the double strike on Sunday, he has gone level with England’s Andrew Cole.

The 29-year-old England striker opened the scoring for his team in the 5th minute when he coolly rolled in Dejan Kulusevski’s pass to the net. In the 56th minute, the ace-striker had the chance to double the Spurs’ advantage but Nottingham Forest’s Dean Henderson saved Kane’s penalty kick. With this save, Henderson became the first goalkeeper in four years to deny the ace-striker from the spot in Premier League.

In the 81st minute, Kane compensated for his early miss and doubled the goal difference in favour of the Spurs sealing the game for the side.

Tottenham Hotspur, with the win, has jumped to the third position in the league table. They are at 10 points in four games behind defending champions Manchester City, who are placed second with a better goal difference. Brighton is in fourth place with 10 points but a lower goal difference. Arsenal is currently at the top of the table with 12 points to their name.

In the all-time list of top scorers in Premier League history, Kane is in the joint-third position. He is only behind England legends Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer. Rooney has 208 goals in the league and Shearer leads the list with 260. The Tottenham striker will no doubt have his sights on Shearer’s record total.

Tottenham Hotspur will play their next game against West Ham United on Wednesday. Antonio Conte’s side will look to maintain their unbeaten run in this edition of the Premier League.
