Indian Women did not have a final to remember in South Africa to end their Tri Series on a high. India had a wonderful series of matches as they recorded three wins from four games with 14 points. In the final, South Africa chased down a low score of 109-4 which was set by India in 18 overs to take the trophy home.

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur gave information on the medical attention that she got during the final of the Tri-Series against South Africa at East London on Thursday. She was finding it uncomfortable and was not at ease with her left shoulder. She received attention from the physio twice and also left the field in between. However, she put all fears to rest once the game was finished. She said that her fitness was not in doubt. “Body is fine. It will take two-three days and it will get better with rest.” Kaur said after the match.

South Africa’s Chloe Tryon top scored with 57 off 32 balls to win the match

The trend continued for India as they did well to get to the final of the Tri-Series but could not win the final game like the Commonwealth games final against Australia and in the 20-20 World Cup in 2020. In the Tri-Series final, India could not get going with the bat. The top 4 batters Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues,  Kaur, and Deepti Sharma could not get going with the bat.

This is what Kaur had to say on India’s defeat to South Africa and India’s form going into the 20-20 World Cup. “Just have to enjoy yourself, whatever is the situation, that’s what we’ve been doing. Lot of positives before heading into the World Cup, we’ve come up with good performances except that we didn’t bat well today but the bowling did well. Keep doing the best things in the world up to do well.”

India, in the second innings, put up an inspired show with the ball as they had kept South Africa on the mat at 66-5 but it was Chloe Tryon who stole the show at the end as she scored an unbeaten 57 off 32 balls, with six fours and two sixes. This innings steadied the ship for South Africa and gave the Proteas the perfect ending to the Tri-Series.
