Haris Rauf reveals interesting incident about Virat Kohli when the two first met
Haris Rauf has given nightmares to batters all over the world with his searing pace and toe-crushing yorkers. He has picked up 72 wickets in T20I and 29 wickets in ODIs. Tall, well-built and strong, there is a certain rhythm as he comes charging in and tries to intimidate the batter. He burst onto the scene when he bowled to Virat Kohli during the Australia tour of 2018-19 in the nets.
Rauf was then plying his trade in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In 2018-19 when he had descended on Australian shores and was playing for a club, Kohli told Rauf something that made his eyes light up. Kohli was sure that the Rawalpindi-born pacer would go on to don the national colours.
“You will be playing for Pakistan in six months,” Rauf quoted Kohli. And to his surprise the prediction from Kohli almost came true. “And I played for Pakistan in 8-9 months,”. Rauf talked about the incident on a show at Geo News. “Hasna Mana Hai”. On the show he was asked who his most prized wicket would be. To which he replied, “I cherish all my wickets, but if I have to pick one, then it has to be Virat Kohli”.

Rauf also talked about his diet and his love for eggs. “I eat 24 eggs a day. Aquib Javed (former Pakistan bowler and a coach now) had given me the diet plan: 8 eggs for breakfast, 8 for lunch and 8 for dinner. When I had gone to the cricket academy for the first time, the room had crates of egg piled up. I felt as if I had come to some poultry farm,” Rauf said. “I was 72 kgs then and Aquibbhai told me I need to be around 82-83 kgs, ideal for my height. I am now 82 kgs.”
He also went on to talk more about the net session that he had with the Indians which is very close to his heart.He went on to say how Ravi Shastri referred to it. “Aksar unse (Ravi Shastri) mulakat hoti hai, wo kehte hai ‘yaar ek net bowler jaise tum hamare paas aye they…aur jis tarah tum world me bowling kar rahey ho tumhara ek naam hai. Jab hum tumko dekhte hai to hume kafi khushi milti hai’. To unhe sara pata hai jaise Virat bhai bhi kafi appreciate karte hai ki ek time tum net bowler bhi they.”
