Finn Allen sent shivers down the spines of Pakistani bowlers today, with a smashing blistering 137 off just 62 balls in the 3rd T20I of the 5-match series at the University Oval in Dunedin. His innings propelled New Zealand to a dominant 45-run victory, leaving the visitors shell-shocked and the crowd in awe.

From the very first ball, Allen announced his intentions. He tore into the Pakistani attack with fearless aggression and dispatching boundaries at his will. His repertoire of shots was breathtaking- powerful pulls, elegant cuts, and audacious scoops over the wicketkeeper. The bowlers simply had no answer to his onslaught. His fifty came off a mere 26 balls following which the sixes flowed even more freely, with Allen clearing the ropes on 16 occasions in total. He equalled the record for the most sixes in the T20I innings which was previously held solely by Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai.

The hundred arrived in the 13th over, and he got to the milestone with a boundary off Shaheen Shah Afridi. The crowd erupted, celebrating the brilliance that they had just witnessed. Allen continued his rampage and eventually fell for 137 in the 18th over. His innings had single-handedly taken the game away from Pakistan, leaving them with a mammoth 225 runs to chase. Despite a valiant effort from Babar Azam, Pakistan could never truly threaten the target. They eventually fell short by 45 runs, succumbing to the pressure of chasing a record-breaking total. In the process, they have also conceded an unassailable 3-0 lead to the hosts.

The action now shifts to the Harley Oval in Christchurch will will host the remaining two games. The Kiwis will be determined to inflict a 5-0 whitewash while the visitors will look to salvage some pride. Fans meanwhile, will be hoping for more of Allen‘s pyrotechnics and his knock today will be remembered for a long time as one of the greatest T20I innings ever.
