India and Australia faced off against each other in an ODI in Mumbai where the first game was played. India and Australia will play three ODI games just before the start of the Indian T20 League. The next two games will be held at Vishakhapatnam and at Chennai. India will want to iron out their flaws before the ODI World Cup which will be played at home.

Before the start of the game, Virat Kohli was seen giving a pep talk to the Indian players. It was a rather animated conversation, and the Indian players were listening to Kohli with great intent. This is the last series that India will play as a side before there will be a gap of two months because of the Indian T20 League.

Here is the tweet-

Steve Smith is captaining Australia in place of Pat Cummins for this ODI series

The National side has played 143 ODI matches against the Kangaroos. India have won 53 times while Australia have won 80 times. India have won four out of the last five ODI series against Australia at home. India’s highest ODI total recorded against Australia is 383/6 which happened in Bangalore in 2013.

For India, the side was led by Pandya in the absence of Rohit Sharma who has missed the first ODI due to his brother in laws wedding. For Australia, Steve Smith led Australia in place of regular ODI skipper Pat Cummins. Smith had also led against India in the third and fourth Tests when Cummins had left India to be with his mother who later passed away. Smith had led Australia to a nine-wicket win at Indore. But India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and won the Test series 2-1.

Australia will be looking to make the most of this opportunity and fine-tune their team selection as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup that will be held here. The last time India hosted an ODI World Cup was way back in 2011.
