‘Hard Work pays off’ – Fans thrilled as Prithvi Shaw finally gets call-up for New Zealand T20Is
Prithvi Shaw has made heads roll as he has been named in the T20I squad against New Zealand. Shaw was primarily drafted into the side as Axar Patel and KL Rahul are not part of the New Zealand series due to personal engagements. Shaw has been in great form in the domestic circuit as well.
Shaw made 379 runs off 393 balls against Assam in a Ranji Trophy game recently. He was also one of the leading run scorers in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 332 runs from 10 games. The right-handed batter brings to the table the ability to strike big and go hard in the powerplay which will suit India in the T20Is against New Zealand. The Mumbai batter has the gift of hitting hard with a lot of power. Shaw’s recent batting exploits made sure that he broke the door down with his performances for the Indian Team.
In the Indian T20 League last season, he scored 283 runs in 10 matches at an average of 28.30 and at a strike rate of 152.97. He also hit two half-centuries. He has finally got his place in the Indian T20 side after a string of impressive performances in the domestic circuit. Shaw has been a very hot talking point in cricketing circles when it comes to his inclusion into the Indian side.
He made his test debut against the West Indies in a two-match series. He scored 134 on his Test debut at a strike rate of 94.04 and at an average of 118.50. He got an Indian T20 League contract with the Delhi Franchise right after he had led India to the victorious 2018 U-19 World Cup campaign.
India won the 2018 World Cup against Australia. The team had the likes of Shubman Gill who has gone on to play for India. Shivam Mavi recently made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka. Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been looked upon as a fast-bowling star for the future. Ishan Porel has been making waved for Bengal in domestic cricket.

Good to see Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw trend on twitter. It’s a start. So many selections seem to be driven by perceptions, popularity.
And that’s where Delhi Capitals has to back Sarfaraz – play him in every match, as they did with Kuldeep.

Prithvi Shaw finally gets a T20I call-up, but after a triple in the most contrasting format. He's earned it though.
