Ravindra Jadeja has a fantastic record against Steve Smith in international cricket. Particularly in Test cricket, Jadeja has dismissed Smith a lot of times. In the recently concluded match between India and Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023, Jadeja got the better of Smith again, which helped India’s cause in a big way.

The wicket of Smith gave an upper hand to the Indian team in the match in Chennai. Jadeja bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss Steve in Chepauk. Jadeja went round the wicket and landed the ball right on the seam. From a good length, the ball took a slight turn. The ball was around the leg stump line and just edged past the outside meat of Smith’s bat and hit the top of the off stump.

It was a beautiful delivery, which surprised even Smith. Even in the past, Jadeja bowled peaches like it to dismiss Smith. But the dismissal in Chennai turned out to be a crucial one for the Indian team. From 199/2 at one stage in the match, Australia collapsed to 140/7 and eventually scored 199 against India. India defeated Australia by six wickets.

The role of Jadeja was big in the match as he claimed three wickets and conceded only 28 runs in his spell of 10 overs, including a couple of maiden overs. After the match, Jadeja appeared in the post-match conference. One of the reporters asked Jadeja the secret behind getting the wicket of Steve Smith. The Indian All-rounder funnily denied the request of the reporter. Jadeja refused to give the answer to it, as it might benefit the opponents.

The left-arm off-spinner did not let know of his secret of dismissing Smith. Australia has a tough challenge ahead of them in the ODI World Cup after the loss against India. Against South Africa, Australia is almost in a must-win situation in Lucknow.
