‘Haar ka dar nhi dost maut ka darr hai’ – Fans react as Imran Nazir says India are ‘scared’ to go to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023
The Asia Cup 2023 will be hosted in Pakistan and India’s games will be held at a neutral venue. These venues might be one of either Sri Lanka, Oman, England or the UAE. This is only with regard to India’s games. The tournament will be a six-team one with India, Pakistan and another team in one group. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be in the other group.
Amidst the boards coming to a consensus, Imran Nazir has made a shocking statement on India ahead of the multilateral tournament. Nazir said security is not the reason why India are not going to Pakistan, but that the Men in Blue fear losing to Pakistan. India have beaten Pakistan in World Cups. In the 20-20 World Cup in 2021, Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in the UAE. Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup in 2022 against Pakistan.
India cannot tolerate losing to Pakistan- Imran Nazir on India- Pakistan matches
“There is no security reason. Just look at how many teams have been to Pakistan. Forget A teams, even Australia visited. These are all just cover-ups. The truth is that India won’t come to Pakistan [for Asia Cup] because they are afraid of losing. Security is just an excuse. Come and play cricket. When you start playing politics, there is no way back,” He said on the Nadir Ali podcast.
“People want to watch India vs Pakistan games because there is a different level of excitement to it. The entire world knows it. Even we as cricketers feel that for cricket to reach every corner of the world, India-Pakistan matches need to happen. We used to play so much cricket. They are such a balanced team but India cannot tolerate losing. It’s a game; you’ll win some, you’ll lose some,” Nazir said that India-Pakistan matches are the need of the hour.
This year’s Asia Cup will be held in the 50-over format. The continental tournament will serve as a good build-up to the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India for the first time since 2011. India have won two ODI World Cups. Pakistan has won the ODI World Cup once. India and Pakistan play each other currently only in the Asia Cup and also in World events.

He's right on the money, they're scared of the backlash of indian media & fans which will jeopardize their performance in World Cup too.
Losing a series in Pak against Pak will be the last thing Team India can afford before W.C.
