The 18th match of the Indian Premier League took place at Mohali between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings on Thursday. Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bowl. PBKS did not get off to the best of starts. They lost Prabhsimran Singh for a two-ball duck. Shikhar Dhawan fell to Joushua Little after scoring just 8 runs. Matthew Short came in at number three and gave some impetus to the innings.  The Australian scored 36 off 24 balls with six fours and one six.

Short was castled by Rashid Khan, while Bhanuka Rajapaksa had a very scratchy innings of 20 off 26 balls. He never looked comfortable and got out to Alzarri Joseph trying to up the ante. Jitesh Sharma looked good at the crease but could not convert his start into a big one. He got out to comeback man Mohit Sharma after scoring 25 off 23 balls with five fours.

Shubman Gill made a cracking 67 off 48 balls to help GT upset PBKS

Sam Curran came in number 6 and tried to put pressure back on the GT bowlers. But couldn’t convert into a big score, getting out on run-a-ball 22 with one four and one six. PBKS got to 153-8 because of a dynamic innings from Shahrukh Khan, who made 22 off 9 balls with one four and two sixes. He was, unfortunately, run out in the end.

In the second innings, GT were offered a solid start, courtesy of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill.  Saha scored 30 off 19 balls with five fours. He fell to Kagiso Rabada. Sai Sudharsan came in at number 3 but could not get going. He was shown the door by Arshdeep Singh after scoring 19 off 20 balls with two fours. Hardik Pandya came in at 4 but he got out to Harpreet Brar for just 8.

Gill, on the other hand, played a mature innings of 67 off 48 balls with seven fours and one six and brought GT close to the target. He was bowled by Curran. In the same over, Rahul Tewatia came in at six and finished the job for GT. The left hander was as cool as a cucumber and hit the winning boundary.
