‘Gujarat ne diya neighbours ko favour’ – Fans react to a thrilling game between RCB and GT in the 2023 IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore hosted the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the final game of the league stage of the Indian Premier League 2023. A win would guarantee a spot in the eliminator game against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Gujarat Titans have already secured their place in the playoffs and will play Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday in the Qualifier 1.
Virat Kohli, in a do-or-die game for his side, was giving the fans glimpses of his lethal best. He had been in the zone from the first ball, reminiscent of his performance against SRH. Following a strong opening tandem from Faf, RCB lost their way, thanks to three quick wickets, but Kohli led a comeback with Bracewell and then once more with Anuj Rawat in the dying stages.
However, it was Kohli’s innings, and according to Ravi Shastri and other on-air commentators, this was his best batting performance in recent memory. While Kohli had been all out attacking against SRH, this was a measured knock that brought back memories of his best, when he would often score 100 runs for pleasure. In order to aid his team in scoring a high total, he managed the innings and made sure he did not waste it.
In response, Gujarat Titans made yet another outstanding start. GT only lost Saha during the powerplay while scoring 51. Vijay Shankar arrived at three but wasn’t expressing himself with the greatest accuracy, but he remained present as Gill carried on as usual.
He maintained the scoreboard’s accuracy and made sure that the rate being asked never exceeded a certain level. The two batters, who were both in their 50s, combined for a 123-run stand.
Shankar defeated Vijaykumar Vyshak for three boundaries in an over before succumbing against the same bowler. Since they were able to get Shanaka and Miller out of the game, RCB did temporarily stop the flow of runs. However, GT manage to defeat RCB’s 197 with 5 balls remaining. This loss meant that Mumbai Indians qualified for the play-offs and RCB had to go home packing.

As sir alex ferguson once said ‘ strikers wins you games but defenders wind you trophy’. That’s what RCB’s problem is, they never invest on good bowlers.
