Gautam Gambhir is always on the news for his controversial and straightforward comments in the media. The former India captain few days back had a heated exchange with his former teammate S Sreesanth during the Legends League Cricket  (LLC) eliminator match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants. The left-handed opener is known for his aggressive replies on the field whenever he has been provoked by the people on and off the field, he has given them a befitting reply to them.

An old video of Gambhir has been viral on social media, where he could be seen talking about his removal as vice-captain after India failed to qualify for the final of the CB series. The batter has been straightforward with the comments he makes and that has created controversies again in the media. The former captain believes this is the first time any vice-captain has been removed and the team’s leader has been intact after a hefty loss.

Gauti is back with his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he had given them success in his six years of captaincy and winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy twice but this time he will be the mentor of the side and the team would again dream to be the champions of the toughest T20 league in the world.

I was removed and Virat Kohli was made the vice-captain: Gautam Gambhir

The interview was done by Lallantop’s YouTube channel where the 42-year-old was caught saying, “The CB series that was talking about, India did not qualify for the final, Australia and Sri Lanka did. I was the vice-captain, and MS Dhoni was the captain. After that series were supposed to travel for a tri-series involving India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. We had not qualified for the final, before that we had lost the Test series 4-0. Dhoni was also under pressure, he was the captain.”

“If something was changed after the CB series it was the vice-captain. I was removed and Virat Kohli was made the vice-captain. In the history of India or any sport, has it happened even once when the vice-captain was removed but the captain was intact. You can confront me, if I am wrong. Duncan Fletcher was the coach then. I asked him what was the reason behind that decision. He said it was the selectors’ decision. I then asked him ‘For what, then, did you go to the meeting?”
