‘Gambhir and Langer in same dugout. Full on entertainment’- Fans react as Justin Langer in talks with LSG to become new head coach

The former Australian coach could end up becoming the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Andy Flower was the head coach for the 2022 and 2023 editions. His contract lapsed with LSG after the 2023 season. LSG had a great start in the IPL as they made it to the playoffs in both seasons. They finished in fourth position in 2022 and they made it to third place in 2023 in the IPL.

When it comes to Langer becoming the head coach of the side, a report from Cricbuzz indicates that several talks have already taken place between both parties but talks are still on and nothing has been finalised on the matter yet. The matter is still being discussed at length and if everything comes together then the franchise would be making an official announcement very soon.

When it comes to Langer and his experience in coaching, he is a man who has seen it all. In the Big Bash, he has led Perth Scorchers to 5 titles in the Big Bash League. Langer has been a big part of cricket in Western Australia over the years and has done wonderfully as a player, coach, and as broadcaster for them. With the Australian national side, he led them to their maiden T20 title in the UAE in 2021.

Langer has proven himself to be a hard-nosed character and with the fiery attitude of Gambhir, the two could make a wonderful combination as LSG look to win an IPL trophy in the 2024 edition. Andy Flower was also brought on by the Australian team as a consultant for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. It remains to be seen what Langer can bring to the LSG side given his experience as a coach in various capacities.

When the news came out, a lot of fans applauded the move and vouched for him to be a part of the franchise. Maybe Langer is the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle that LSG need so that they can lift their maiden IPL title. The Ekana stadium served as the home ground for LSG and now will also be a World Cup venue for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
