Former Pakistan cricketer supports Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s contract termination decision by Indian Cricket Board
Former Pakistan player Kamran Akmal states that the Indian Cricket Board has made the correct decision by terminating the contract of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Shreyas Iyer was removed from the contract as he was not interested in playing Ranji Trophy matches for the Maharashtra state team.
Kamran Akmal expressed that the senior players must set positive examples for young and talented players. “Shreyas Iyer played the first two Tests of the series. If you don’t value cricket because of which you made it to the national team, what message is it going to give to all the youngsters?” he said in his YouTube video.
After Shreyas Iyer was not picked in the T20I squad against Afghanistan he played for the Mumbai Ranji Trophy match against Andhra. In the first innings, he scored 48 runs. Meanwhile is he added to the Mumbai squad for the semi-final match against Tamil Nadu.
Indian Cricket Board has made the right call – Kamran Akmal
Kamran Akmal’s comment came after the Indian Cricket Board released the updated central contract list. He stated that this decision would prevent other players from skipping the domestic matches.
“Indian Cricket Board has made the right call, taking such strict action early on to control the damage. If they had given them a levy and handed them central contracts, a lot more players would have started playing on their own terms in the future.”
“The Indian Cricket Board have given a message to their players to ensure that nobody even thinks of doing something like this the next time. This is proof of good management. Nobody is bigger than the game.”
All eyes will be on Shreyas Iyer as he will play the semi-final of the Ranji Trophy. Since his performance in red-cricket has been questioned. Shreyas Iyer hasn’t scored a half-century since the Bangladesh Test match.
