The first Test at Galle has been absolutely captivating, heading to day 5,  Pakistan need 83 runs to win the game. The Men in Green ended Day 4 at 48-3. Pakistan hit the right notes in the Test match as the Pakistan bowlers rocked Sri Lanka early and had them on the ropes at 101-5. Sri Lanka managed to get through to 312 in the first innings. Pakistan ended their first innings at 461. Though the chief contributor was Saud Shakeel who scored a splendid unbeaten 208 off 361 balls with 19 fours.

Shah blunted the Sri Lankan bowlers for a long time and made a resolute 6 off 78 balls. However, Amir Sohail’s critical comments on Shah ended up leaving a bitter taste in his mouth for everyone. While Ramiz Raja lauded Shah for his marathon knock, Amir Sohail made a very disrespectful comment and said that Shah needs to develop his ‘brain muscle’. Shah has shown great ability to bat in all forms of the game and has also shown his six-hitting prowess in short-form cricket.

A lot of credit goes to Naseem Shah for letting me get to the double hundred: Saud Shakeel

In the commentary box, Ramiz Raja said on air, “Naseem has no problem developing the batting muscle.”Sharing his views on Amir’s comments, Sohail said, “There is another muscle he needs to develop, the brain muscle.” “He will become a better cricketer and bowler,” he further added. When Sohail uttered the statement he had to face the ire from the fans on social media.

The right-handed batter’s ability to grind the Sri Lankan bowlers helped make things very easy for Shakeel. The two gritted down in a tough period of play to hand Pakistan the advantage in the end. The duo put together a valuable 94-run stand for the ninth wicket which changed the course of the match for the Men in Green.

“When Naseem Shah joined me, he said that there’s a chance for me to go for the double hundred,”  Shakeel told the press after his marathon innings on Day 3. “A lot of credit to him for backing me and not letting me panic.” He added. Shakeel became the first Pakistani player to score a double ton in Sri Lanka.
