In a world where comparisons happen all the time, Abdul Razzaq has said that Babar Azam’s fitness is not up to the mark in comparison to Virat Kohli. The former Pakistan cricketer said Babar will have to work hard to achieve Kohli’s high standards of fitness.

The 43-year-old has said that the fans should not compare the two players. He reiterated the fact that both players are world class. While Babar is the skipper of Pakistan, Kohli recently stepped down from captaining the Indian side. Kohli has scored 12898 runs in ODIs. Babar has scored 4813 runs in the 50-over format.

His intent is positive – Abdul Razzaq on Virat Kohli

“The main thing is that his fitness is world-class. Babar Azam’s fitness is not like that of Virat Kohli. Babar needs to work more on his fitness,”. Razzaq told the Times of India. “We don’t need to compare them. It’s like asking, who is better – Kapil Dev or Imran Khan? These comparisons are not good.

“Babar is Pakistan’s number one player. Babar is in fact the world number 1 batter (ODIs). Be it in any format of the game, Test, ODI, or T20I, he has been consistently performing well. Every country has one player like them (Virat and Babar),” Razzaq added. “Virat is an outstanding and fantastic player. The best part is that he takes his team along. His intent is always positive. He utilises his skills very well.”

India and Pakistan will face each other in a neutral venue at the Asia Cup. The multilateral tournament will be held in Pakistan before the 2023 World Cup. It is likely that the other teams will play in Pakistan and India’s fixtures could be held in Oman, Sri Lanka, England or in the UAE.

The two nations were at loggerheads recently but the Pakistan Cricket Board have suggested the idea of staging India’s games in a neutral venue. The consent of the boards of all playing countries need to be taken before the idea is put into action. There will be a lot of logistics involved.
