After a dominating show in the three-match T20 series, where India was clinical with both bat and ball, the focus will now shift to the three-match ODI series, which is set to begin on October 6, Thursday. This series will be under the radar considering that it will be played under the shadows of the upcoming 20-20 World Cup.

This ODI series will be a great chance to test out the bench strength in this ODI series as the main players will leave for Australia to play the 20-20 World Cup in Australia which will start on October 16th. For India, the team will be led by Shikhar Dhawan.

The left-handed opening batter has been in good form in the ODI format and will be leading the team again after he led the team recently against West Indies and Sri Lanka in 2021. He has been piling up the runs and has been perceived as an ODI specialist. He made 168 runs in the three-match ODI series which took place in the West Indies.

In the Zimbabwe series, in which Dhawan was KL Rahul’s deputy he had scored 154 runs at a strike rate of 76.23 and an average of 77 in three games and he will be looking to get another series win as skipper of the Indian Team against South Africa. His cool and calm attitude will bode well for team India.
