Commonwealth Games is a multi-sport event that takes place among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The best in the world compete together in the games, which is also referred to as friendly games. It was first held in 1930 and has been conducting every four years, since. India has had a strong showing in the Commonwealth Games and even hosted the event in 2010.

In the 63 Commonwealth Games that have taken place since the inaugural tournament in Ontario, Canada in 1930, more than 10,000 medals have already been won. The rankings below were compiled after day five of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, England.

They have got a total of 974 Commonwealth Games Gold medals so far . Australia have always had a great sporting culture and they have embraced sports. The athletes do well because they have great facilities and proper sporting infrastructure.

The Australian population is small but this small wonderful population keep producing sportspersons every year and keep increasing their medal tally across all sporting events. They have got a total of 2522 medals with 974 Gold, 807 silver and 741 Bronze. Ian Thorpe, Liz Ellis and Anna Mares are some famous athletes who have won medals for Australia in the Commonwealth Games.
