India currently sit fifth in this list. India have great aspirations as a sporting country and aim to get to a stage where they can compete and be as good as the top nations in the world. At present, a lot of importance and grants have been given to sports such as shooting, Boxing.
Over the years, the importance has been given to other sports besides Cricket as well. They have a total of 516 medals at the Commonwealth Games, which consist of 186 Gold medals, 178 silver medals, and 152 Bronze medals. They have 186 Gold Medals as a nation.
The most famous sportspersons who have done well for India are PV Sindhu , Saina Nehwal and Abhinav Bindra. All have made the nation proud by clinching medals in different sports.
