The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 is the prime example of the pinnacle of sports and with the tournament hosted by Qatar already witnessing the upsets of all time, teams are bracing and toiling hard to make it through to the next stage of the game. The teams have started playing their final group stage games and with the heavyweights such as Brazil, France, England and Australia already marching through, the fans are getting their mindset set to witness close games.

As things stand, Argentina squared off against Poland in the Group C match and it was a must-win match for all teams from the group. To add more, every team from the group that played the match on the day, had an equal share of chances to survive in the campaign. As far as the first half is concerned, La Albiceleste did get a chance to score a goal in the 38th minute as they were gifted with a penalty. However, the legendary player, Lionel Messi, eventually failed to capitalize on the opportunity and thus, the scoreline remained 0-0.

In the second half, Argentina got off to a flyer as Alexis Mac Allister produced the lead 1 minute into the deciding half shifting the momentum in La Albiceleste’s favour. Julián Álvarez, another star player from Argentina, backed his teammate and doubled the lead in the 67th minute, inching the team closer to the Round of 16.

Mexico outdo Saudi Arabia in FIFA World Cup 2022

On the other hand, it was a tough clash between Saudi Arabia and Mexico from the same group and it was the former who maintained dominance in the game, given that they are the ones who defeated Argentina earlier in the multinational tournament. To add more to the first half, Saudi Arabia showed great perseverance and they dominated the game right throughout the half. However, neither of the teams bagged a goal to their name in the first 45 minutes, making things more complicated.

Mexico banked on their strengths in the second half and it was Henry Martín, who produced the initial goal for the team in the 47th minute backed by Luis Chávez in the 52nd minute. Salem Aldawsari produced the late goal for Saudi Arabia and it was Mexico who won the game with a scoreline of 1-2. Despite winning the game, Poland made it through to the knockouts on the back of lesser yellow cards contrary to Mexico.
