The 11th match of the International League T20 (ILT20) was played between the MI Emirates and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. The game was played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Emirates won the toss and elected to bowl first. Brandon King departed early for 6 off 13 balls with one four. Kennar Lewis also went after a 2-ball duck. The Knight Riders rode on Dhananjaya de Silva’s 65 off 40 balls with eight fours and two sixes.

Charith Asalanka made 23 off 17 balls with one four and two sixes. At no. 6, Sunil Narine, the skipper contributed with 28 off 18 balls with three fours and one six. These contributions helped the Knight Riders get to 170-7 in their 20 overs. With the ball for the Emirates, Fazalhaq Farooqi was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2-27 in his four overs. Zahoor Khan picked up 2-35 off his four overs.

A bizarre incident happened in the first ball of Farooqi’s spell. He ran into bowl and since he did not grip the ball properly, he lost control of the ball and delivered the ball over the batter. The ball looped up high in the air and went over the batter, keeper and the slip cordon. It was called four byes and a no-ball by the umpire. Since the Afghan pacer was already in his delivery stride and went through his action, it was not deemed a dead ball.

In the second innings, the Emirates did not start well either as Muhammad Waseem was the first to depart with 2 off 7 balls and Will Smeed shortly was out afterwards for 11 off 12 balls with one four. Andre Fletcher steadied the ship coming in at no. 3. He made 53 off 43 balls with four fours and one six.

Nicholas Pooran the wicketkeeper batter made 20 off 13 balls with two fours and one six. Kieron Pollard also made a handy contribution of 31 off 23 balls with four fours. He was dismissed by Narine. Dwayne Bravo and Najibullah Zadran brought the Emirates home with their unbeaten knocks of 15 off 6 balls with one four and one six and 35 off 17 balls with one four and four sixes. The Emirates got to the target of 171 in the last ball of the 20th over.
