‘Ekdum dhaga khol diya’- Twitter in awe of recently-released Chennai batter N Jagadeesan as he makes record-breaking 277 in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper batter N Jagadeesan has been in a sensational run of form. In the last five matches, the right-hand batter has scored four centuries and a massive double century to create a sensation in Indian cricket.
His latest knock against Arunachal Pradesh has broken a string of records and created others in their place. In a terrific display of batting, Jagadeesan smashed his 5th consecutive List-A century becoming the first-ever batter in the world to achieve this feat.
That however was not the end of records for the Caimabtore-born cricketer. Recently released from the Chennai franchise for the upcoming Indian T20 League, the right-hand batter smashed 277 runs in just 141 balls with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes.
As a result of his blistering knock, Jagadeesan has broken the record for the highest List- Score previously held by Allister Brown (268). India skipper Rohit Sharma has also been left in Jagadeesan’s dust as the Tamil Nadu player has gotten past his 264 as well.
When asked about the secret behind his sensational run of form, Jagadeesan said, “I have not done anything special to get these four tons. Just I have been watching the ball and playing judiciously.”
“I have been trying to improve my game every single day. What perhaps could have helped me is the fact that when I got out to bat, I try to have the same mindset,” said the former Chennai franchise player.
“Yes, we also undergo various drills. It is quite normal. But the only thing I have been trying is to get my head straight more than hitting the balls,” replied Jagadeesan when asked about any special drill that he takes part in.
Twitter was soon buzzing after watching Jagadeesan showcase an otherworldly run of form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Soon the batter’s name started to trend on Twitter with people amazed by the batter’s innings.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
For 20 years I have been looking at Ali Brown's 268 at the top of the list and saying "some day, some day".
Shikhar Dhawan made 248 and Rohit Sharma 264, but 268 stayed.
Then came N Jagadeesan.
