‘Ek aur phir Sachin ke equal’ – Fans react to Virat Kohli reaching 48 ODI centuries during ODI World Cup 2023 encounter
The captain of Team India, Virat Kohli, scored a beautiful six to mark his 48th ODI century on Thursday, October 19, during the 2023 World Cup encounter versus Bangladesh. At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, he contributed to Team India’s seven-wicket victory. In addition, it marked the conclusion of the game, extending India’s current World Cup undefeated streak.
Earlier in the match, Bangladesh batted first and amassed 256/8 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma played aggressively once again and struck an incredible 48. He gave his side of the chase a strong foundation. He was well-complemented by Shubman Gill’s fluid half-century.
Virat Kohli expertly led the chase after the two left, and the team won in 41.3 overs. Ultimately, with KL Rahul on the other end, he found himself on 80 as India required 20 runs to win.
After then, Virat Kohli controlled the strike and scored every run to secure his third-ever hundred-run World Cup. In the 42nd over, he attained the milestone and ended the match with a six versus Nasum Ahmed.
“I wanted to make a big contribution” : Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli said at the post-game press conference that he was lucky to have a few free hits earlier during his innings. He got rolling with the four and six from the two deliveries.
After winning Player of the Match, Kohli reflected as follows, “Sorry for stealing it (player of the match award) from Jaddu but I wanted to make a big contribution. I’ve had a few fifties in World Cups and I haven’t really converted them so I wanted to finish it off this time and hang on till the end.”
The former Team India skipper spoke about the team environment. He said, “It’s a great atmosphere in the change room. We’re loving each other’s company, the spirit is there for everyone to see. It’s a long tournament and you need that mood in the change room for guys to come out and play like this. And Ash as well, just the two of us from 2011 – it’s a pleasure playing at home and we want to make the most of it.”

At present, Virat is the greatest cricketer in the world.
He cannot be compared with any other player.
These are becoming more dangerous day by day.
His record in run chasing has no significance.
