‘Ee sala Rain namde’ – Fans abuzz as hailstorms and heavy rain reported near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of RCB vs GT clash

RCB vs GT will be the final league game of the IPL 2023

The Gujarat Titans, the current champions, will play the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, May 21, at Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This game must be won by the RCB. Now that GT, CSK, and LSG have made it to the playoffs, there is only one spot left, and RCB, MI, and RR are vying for it.

Because MI will play SRH earlier in the day, RCB will be aware of what they must do to make the playoffs. If MI loses to SRH, all RCB needs to do to progress is win. If SRH defeats MI, RCB must make sure they have a greater run rate than Mumbai Indians at the conclusion of the match. And, if both teams lose, the team with the greater run rate, including Rajasthan Royals, advances.

A shortened game can affect RCB’s chances for Playoffs

The fact that it has been raining in Bangalore and that the weather forecast for May 21 does not appear promising should worry RCB. AccuWeather predicts that there will likely be rain during the game. Rain was expected to begin at 4 p.m while local sources report that heavy rains started before the predicted time and is to last into the evening. Therefore, if it keeps raining heavily, finishing the game will be a challenge because Bangalore rain is notoriously unreliable.

If the game is called off due to inclement weather, RCB will receive 15 points, and their fate will depend on the result of the SRH vs. MI game. If Rohit Sharma‘s team loses, RCB will progress; if MI wins, they will.

Although the weather appeared favourable in the morning, residents predicted rain to start after 5 p.m. Moreover, RCB’s run rate will suffer from a shortened game. Bangalore is not seeing heavy rain right now, and there have been reported hailstorms near M Chinnaswamy Stadium. But it looks like rain will continue in slow pace for some time more. However, the rain might end up being RCB’s worst enemy. Bangalore faces a serious rain threat today, and the game may be called off. If MI triumphs in that scenario, RCB will be eliminated.
