Golden State Warriors’ star player Draymond Green re-signed a contract with them in the off-season for a four-year term. The contract was worth 100 Million. He had received better and more lucrative offers from other teams. The man has been around the NBA for some time and he decided to take the less lucrative option by continuing to stay with the franchise that had picked him up during the 2012 NBA draft. The decision was also influenced by some golden words that he got from his agent, Rich Paul.

Paul also served as an agent of LeBron James’ agent and talked to Green about the importance of commitment and that it has its rewards. Paul also went on to say that if Green wanted to safeguard his loyalty then there is no better place to do so than Golden State. Green then went on to say that he turned down more lucrative offers that came his way and made sure that he continues to extend his stay at the Golden State. Green has played a part in 4 NBA titles in an 11-year span and also took the defensive player of the Year award.

He would go Radio silent if I talked to him about other opportunities  – Draymond Green

“He made it very clear to me and evident just how important loyalty is, how important the situation that you’re in is, and for me, I’ve been there my entire career,” Green said. “Not to just walk away from that because that dollar amount looks better. That shiny object over there ain’t always what it seems like.” He added. “The way Rich stayed in the pocket and just, the only thing to him, was my legacy, like yeah, we’re going to get you paid, but your legacy is more important than anything.”Paul went on to explain.

“He had a certain dollar amount that he wanted to get to, that we wanted to get to, that we had spoken about before it all even began.” Green said about turning down better offers. “And I had other opportunities that would have paid me more money. And even when I would talk to him about what the benefit could be in those opportunities, he would go silent. And it was more money! Like substantially more money, I’m talking about $10 million more a year. And he would just go radio silent.”
