Kane Williamson is all set to make his comeback to international cricket. According to the reports, the Kiwi batter is completely fit to play again. Hence, there are speculations that New Zealand will have Williamson for the 2023 ODI World Cup squad. The tournament which will be played in India, will witness the class of Williamson. It has turned out to be a piece of positive news for the fans of New Zealand. 

Williamson is the regular captain of the Blackcaps. In the absence of the 33-year-old, New Zealand was led by Tom Latham and Tim Southee in ODIs and T20is respectively. The return of Williamson will mean that New Zealand will have their captain back as well. Kiwis needed the experience of Williamson in their lineup. The middle-order batter of New Zealand is one of the best players of spin. 

As the ODI World Cup will be happening in India, it is essential to have good players of spin. The Tauranga-born cricketer is one of the best ODI batters since his debut. New Zealand will be deeply boosted with the return of Kane Williamson. According to the reports, the classical batter will be included in New Zealand’s ODI squad against England. 

Return to international cricket after a long time

As the countdown begins for the teams to announce their ODI World Cup squads, the boards are finalizing their choices. Following it, reports are suggesting that Williamson will be back in the New Zealand outfit soon. In the 2019 ODI World Cup, the star cricketer was the Player of the Tournament for his brilliant captaincy and great batsmanship for New Zealand.  

In April earlier this year, Kane sustained an injury while fielding for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2023. Following it, the Kiwi cricketer was ruled out of the IPL and other series. Since then, Williamson has not played a match for any team. The series against England will be crucial to see how fit Williamson is.  New Zealand will be hoping to see their captain at his full strength.
