India and Pakistan Cricket have had some wonderful encounters over the years. But India-Pakistan cricket has become limited to World events or during Asia Cups. There have been many mouth-watering India-Pakistan encounters over the years. The most recent one was the last ball thriller which took place at the MCG. Virat Kohli took the Thor out and handed India a famous win over the arch-rivals after he made an unbeaten 82.

All has not been well in terms of relations between the two nations. A case in point is the 2023 Asia Cup. Pakistan was scheduled to host the tournament in 2023. They were handed the hosting rights as well. But the Indian cricket board along with the other member boards vetoed the decision and now it seems all but likely that the tournament will be shifted out of Pakistan. The multilateral tournament will take place in Sri Lanka. Pakistan journalist Farid Khan has written a very emotional letter to Jay Shah the ACC president and asked him to let Pakistan host the tournament.

Here is the letter in the form of a tweet:

Sri Lanka is likely to host the Asia Cup in 2023- Reports

The Pakistan Cricket Board also came up with the solution of hosting India’s games at a neutral venue, while the rest of the games will take place in Pakistan. Jay Shah had stated earlier that India will not travel to Pakistan unless the necessary clearances are obtained from the Central Government. There is also a threat to security for India. In the letter, the journalist said that Pakistan would do everything in their power to give safe passage to India.

Sri Lanka, Oman, England and UAE were looked at as the alternate venues for India’s games under the Hybrid model. But in the end, that did not materialise and Sri Lanka will host this edition of the Asia Cup, as per reports. The last edition of the Asia Cup in the 50-over format was held in UAE where India reigned supreme. If the tournament takes place this year then it will be held in the 50-over format as a backdrop to the ODI World Cup in India.
