‘Deserves all the attention’ – Fans react to Vrinda Dinesh and Kashvee Gautam going for big bucks in WPL 2024 Auctions

It is a massive day for Women’s cricket and their fans. 165 players were bid for during the WPL Auction 2024 which was held in Mumbai on Saturday. Annabel Sutherland was brought for INR 2 Crores by Delhi Capitals.

Young Indian stars Vrinda Dinesh and Kashvee Gautam made it big on Saturday. The two were one of the biggest earners of the day despite being in the uncapped Indian players list. The two players are prime examples of the enhanced scouting network that is being put into place by various WPL teams.

22-year-old Vrinda Dinesh was brought by UP Warriorz for a whopping amount of INR 1.3 Crores. The youngster became the highest-paid Indian cricketer in WPL history as far as uncapped Indian players are concerned.

Uncapped India players make it big 

20-year-old Kashvee Gautam then went past the record set by Vrinda Dinesh just a few minutes earlier. The right-arm pacer was bought by Gujarat Giants for a whopping INR 2 Crores. The same figure that Australian youngster Annabel Sutherland had commanded.

There were massive cheers of jubilation from the UP and Gujarat tables during the bidding. The two teams had come well-prepared and it seemed that the strategy worked out well for both sides.

Vrinda Dinesh and Kashvee Gautam are held in high regard in the Indian women’s cricket circuit. There was a three-way battle for Vrinda Dinesh with RCB, Gujarat, and UP fighting for her signature.

The entire bidding process saw UP not let go of the desire to have the youngster in their team. There were handshakes and smiles on the faces of the UP bench once the hammer went down at INR 1.3 Crores.

Kashvee Gautam also saw massive back and forth between Gujarat and Bangalore. At one point it seemed the youngster was on her way to the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gujarat Giants came in with a late bid to nick the talented youngster their way.
