Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals battled it out at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 20th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. The coin went the way of DC and they chose to bowl.  RCB got off to a decent start, courtesy of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Kohli was in good form as RCB raced to 42 in 4.4 overs. Afterwards, disaster struck as du Plessis fell to Mitchell Marsh. Then, Kohli switched gears and played some good shots. But after reaching 50, the former RCB skipper got out to Lalit Yadav.

When Kohli got out at 89-2, there was a mini-collapse in the middle order. Mahipal Lomror fell after making 26 off 18 balls with two sixes. Glenn Maxwell could not get going, unlike the last game. He fell to Kuldeep Yadav. The Australian made 24 off 14 balls with three sixes. Then, in a bizarre move, RCB sent Harshal Patel at number 5. He hit 6 off 4 and got out to Axar Patel. In the end, Shabaz Ahmed made a valuable unbeaten 20 off 12 with three fours.

DC could only get to 151-9 in their 20 overs against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium

Anuj Rawat, the impact substitute for RCB, made an unbeaten 15 off 22 balls with one four. Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep were the best bowlers for DC as Marsh picked up 2-18 in his two-over spell. Kuldeep Yadav picked 2-23 in his four overs. In the second innings, RCB struck first blood straightaway as Prithvi Shaw was run out by Anuj Rawat to send him for a duck.

Then, Wayne Parnell dismissed Marsh for a four-ball duck. Yash Dhull was the third one to go as he was no match for the pace of Mohammed Siraj. David Warner was claimed by debutant Vyshak Vijaykumar. Manish Pandey was the only one who offered some resistance and scored 50 off 38 balls with five fours and one six. Young Abhishek Porel was foxed by Harshal Patel’s slower ball. Vijaykumar dismissed Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav as well.

In the end, the RCB bowlers put on a good show and bowled good lines and lengths to seal the game by 23 runs to get their second win in IPL 2023.
