Delhi Capitals director of cricket Sourav Ganguly went ga-ga over Shubman Gill’s heroics with the bat. The Gujarat Titans opener smashed a second hundred in as many games for his side. Gill played out a wonderous unbeaten 104 off 52 balls with five fours and eight sixes. His innings floored the RCB bowlers and silenced the Chinnaswamy crowd. This meant GT ended the league stage on a high and finished off with 20 points.
Gill will be a vital cog in GT’s wheel come the IPL playoffs. The 23-year-old has scored 680 runs in 14 games. He has made four fifties and two hundreds. What talent this country produces… Shubman Gill… wow… two stunning knocks in two halves… IPL! What standards in the tournament!” Ganguly tweeted. Many fans appreciated the tweet from him but they were also fuming as Ganguly had failed to appreciate Kohli’s knock which happened in the same game at Bengaluru.
The fans blasted Ganguly on Twitter as they felt he did not give Kohli credit where it is due and only mentioned Gill. Ganguly and Kohli had a bitter face-off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium where it appeared that Kohli had given Ganguly a death stare. This happened when RCB met Delhi Capitals. After that Ganguly and Kohli did not shake hands with each other in that game. Kohli and Ganguly did not see eye to eye with each other when Ganguly’s stint as Indian Cricket Board President ended recently.
Kohli had scored 101 off 61 balls with 13 fours and one six. The former RCB skipper had put on a masterclass at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli played a cracking knock when wickets were falling around him. Kohli like Gill had scored two hundreds in as many games. Kohli ended the league stage with 639 runs on his bat. He had an average of 53.25. Royal Challengers Bangalore narrowly missed out on a Playoff berth in IPL 2023.
The IPL playoffs will begin on Tuesday, May 23. The four best teams in the tournament will go head-to-head. The first qualifier will take place between CSK and GT and then the other three games will follow. One among the four teams will be crowned IPL 2023 Champions.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
I know you enjoyed it but Kohli played as well if you don't want to appreciate King Kohli plz don't tweet #RCBvsGT

You are too biased towards a single player. Virat gave his best to qualify to Playoffs but you have never ever praised a Batsman like him. As a Batsman, you should appreciate others as well.
Anyways both Virat & Shubman played an outstanding innings today. Hatsoff to both of them— VIRATIAN🇮🇳🇮🇳 (@iamrksethi) May 21, 2023
Yes, first V K and then S G…..two beauties. Unfortunately one had to go in a losing cause. But wud hv loved to see RCB in the Play offs.

Not taking the name of King Kholi 👑 and his century,
Shows how hateful you are, can't even take a person's name. You may have removed your shirt and been nude in England,
But V Kholi has more than you for Indian 🇮🇳 cricket or any other player in history.
Dada let me…
