Australia trounced England by 43 runs in the second Ashes Test at Lords and took a valuable 2-0 lead. Before the result finished in favour of Australia, there was a lot of drama on so many counts. One of them was the controversial dismissal which happened in the first session of Day 5 off the last ball of Cameron Green’s over. Bairstow went back to the shed after scoring 10 off 22 balls with two fours.

After the dismissal, a lot of English newspapers criticised the Australians because they felt that the Kangaroos not calling Bairstow back was Unsportsmanlike in their conduct. A few MCC members also were verbally abusing and booing the Australian players leading to the suspension of three members of the club.

The Third Test between England and Australia will be played at Leeds

Cameron Green bowled a short ball that was wide off stump to Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow left the ball and was running down the crease to get to his partner. He did not give any indication to the keeper or the slip cordon of doing so. Generally, players check with the wicketkeeper before they get to the other end which would ensure that the ball is dead.

Bairstow however was seen walking out of his crease in a very easy-going manner. Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey on the other hand looked like he was watching Bairstow’s moments like a hawk. When Bairstow was out of the crease he directed a well-aimed throw and scored a direct hit. When the stumping took place, Bairstow was nowhere in the frame and the Australian players were seen celebrating and appealing as they felt that Bairstow was definitely out. What Australia did was well within the rules.

The third Test will be played at Leads Headingley. England are trailing 0-2 in the Ashes, and it remains to be seen whether the Three Lions will continue to adopt and play the Bazball way. Australia on the other hand have got on an impressive run since the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
