The 2022 World Cup in Qatar has been a wonderful tournament so far in the sense that it has seen football of the highest quality, it has been a tournament of upsets, and the matches have been very close. The fans in Qatar and around the world have been fully entertained by the games that have been on the show.

Portugal were stunned when they received a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Morocco who wrote themselves into the history books after they became the first nation from Africa to get into the last four of the World Cup. Before this Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana had tried hard but they had faltered when it came to the quarterfinals.

Cristiano Ronaldo was seen crying inconsolably after Portugal’s astonishing defeat to the African nation. Ronaldo became at par with having the most international caps for his country in football when he was sent in as a substitute in the second half. He was seen crying bitterly as he exited the ground and went into the tunnel.

In what was a very intense match, Portugal and Ronaldo tried hard and almost got things going for them but in the end, it wasn’t to be as Morocco kept the lead that that got after Youssef En-Nesyri had launched a header from up close at the fag end of the first half. Morocco have demonstrated their worth in this World Cup.

They are yet to lose a match in this World Cup. They beat Belgium and Canada, held Croatia to a draw and trumped Spain on penalties to meet Portugal in the round of 16. Ronaldo has linked up with Saudi Arabia-based club Al Nassr according to reports.

This World Cup has been a tournament of upsets with the favourites being beaten, Argentina beat Netherlands (4-3 on penalties) after being kept to a 2-2 draw in penalties in the quarter-final and then France beat England 2-1. So this football World Cup 2022 has just kept on giving to all the football-crazy fans.
