2. First Indian bowler to claim two fifers in ODI World Cup

Mohammed Shami was exceptional in the match against New Zealand. the Indian pacer claimed a five-wicket haul on his return in the ODI World Cup 2023. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Shami shined with the ball. In his 10 overs, Shami claimed 5 wickets and conceded only 54 runs. During the process, Shami became only the first Indian bowler to claim two fifers in ODIs. In the 2019 ODI World Cup, Shami claimed a five-wicket haul against England.

It led to him surpassing Ab De Villiers as the South African batter with the most hundred in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.

5. England’s biggest defeat in ODI World Cup

England is not having a great tournament till now. The defending champions have lost 4 matches in 5 appearances. Their only win in the tournament has come against Bangladesh. England lost to teams like New Zealand, Afghanistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Against South Africa, England suffered a heavy defeat of 229 runs. It is now the biggest defeat for England in terms of runs in the history of the ODI World Cup.

6. Highest individual score by a wicketkeeper batter in ODIs

Quinton De Kock was fantastic against Bangladesh in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The South African batter scored 174 runs in 140 balls, which included 15 fours and 7 sixes. The knock of De Kock helped South Africa to register a mammoth total of 382 runs on the board. De Kock became the wicketkeeper batter with the highest score in the history of the ODI World Cup. It is also the second-highest score by a wicketkeeper batter in ODIs.

7. Most hundreds by an Australian in the ODI World Cup

David Warner has been very good in the tournament till now for Australia. The opening batter has been the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. In the third week of the tournament, Warner played 2 matches and scored hundreds in both matches. Against Pakistan, Warner scored 163 runs. Against Netherlands, he scored a hundred as well. It was his sixth hundred in the ODI World Cup, which is now the most by an Australian batter in the ODI World Cup.

8. Highest opening stand for Australia in ODI World Cup

Against Pakistan, the Australian opening pair of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh was very good. Both the batters scored a hundred and took the game away from Pakistan. While Warner scored 163 runs and played a long innings, Marsh was impactful with his hundred, which came on his birthday. In the dying moments of the game, the Bangladeshi lower middle order batter registered a ton against South Africa. The experienced batter now has a hundred against teams like New Zealand, England, and South Africa in the ODI World Cup. Mahmudullah became the Bangladeshi batter with the most hundreds in the ODI World Cup.
