Cricket bat brand reveals MS Dhoni let go off sponsorship money

Ahead of the IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has been using the sticker of his friend’s Sports Shop. The sticker can be visible from his bat in one of the practice images. However, many years back, when he started his international cricket, his sponsor was BAS (Beat All Sports). During the end of his career, Dhoni had the sponsor after having other sponsors in the middle.

Meanwhile, in a YouTube video, BAS owner Somi Kohli claimed that the former India skipper didn’t charge a single penny for the deal. Kohli added that he tried to convince him and mentioned letting go of a lucrative deal. However, the wicketkeeper batter, as said by Kohli that the former struck with his words.

“Dhoni did not mention any money. He just said ‘put your stickers on my bats and send them across’. I tried to convince him, ‘You’re letting go of such a lucrative contract’. He let go crores of rupees worth of contract. I requested his wife Sakshi, his father, mother. Even told his CA and Paramjit from Ranchi. They all went to his home before the World Cup. But he said ‘No… it is my decision’,” Kohli said in a video on Sports Launchpad YouTube.

Notably, Dhoni and BAS’ association goes way back in 1998. 26 years back, Kohli was looking for a young talent and went for the Jharkhand player. In 2004, Kohli met Dhoni personally and in the same year, the three-time World Event-winning captain made his international debut. It took Paramjit, Dhoni’s friend, six months of convincing before Kohli finally brought into the idea of supporting Dhoni
