‘Crazy game’- Fans react as Spain beat England in the Women’s World Cup final
This was England's second World Cup final since 1996.

In a long final. The Women’s Football World Cup went to Spain. The England and Spanish supporters had the time of their lives in Australia. Olga Carmona was the lone goal scorer in the match. He put Spain on the scoresheet in the 29th minute. When she smacked the goal into the net, the Spanish supporters went crazy at the Stadium as Spain had got one foot in the door when it came to the precious World Cup trophy.
Good defending by the Spaniards ensured that they did not allow England to come back into the match. Spain could have scored one more goal and made their victory even sweeter. But a chance from the penalty spot just after the hour saw aย save by Mary Earps in the second half. Spain pulled all the right strings. England were not on the ball and that meant that they could not win a World Cup. England made their second appearance in World Cups since 1996.

Spain had a better possession and committed a lesser number of errors as a result. When it came to all-round play in the field Spain was a few notches above England. The Three Lions were guilty of making errors. Sarina Wiegman who was playing in her fourth successive major tournament final rang in some changes in the second half, by getting in Lauren James and Chloe Kelly on in place ofย Alessia Russo and Rachel Daly, and went back to a 4-3-3 formation.
Earps has been the unsung hero for England through the World Cup. Though England improved with a change in formation, it was a little late for them as they desperately tried to make a comeback in the game. Spain stepped up to the plate when it mattered most. While England will rue some errors and they were found wanting when they had to step up their game. Spain had to face a lot of problems before the Word Cup but they came up trumps for England it was so near yet so far.
