Chaos unfolds on Twitter as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni loose Blue ticks on Twitter

The Indian Premier League (IPL) in its 16th edition has been a blockbuster season so far. The 16th edition has been electric and a lot of last-over finishes have taken place. While the cricket has been wonderful to watch. There has been big news that is coming in off the field. The awesome trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni has lost their blue ticks on Twitter which has created a big uproar on the micro-blogging site.

Elon Musk has made a lot of alterations to Twitter after he took over. the Twitter bigwig had earlier announced that the only way to keep the blue ticks is by subscribing to Twitter Blue. It looks like the big three cricket Indian icons have not done so. Some time back Twitter had said that it would start taking down ‘Legacy Blue’ ticks from the profiles as it felt that people should pay for the blue tick which also means their account is verified.

The cricketing tun machines have not yet subscribed to Twitter Blue and hence on Friday morning a number of cricketers and celebrities have lost their blue ticks. Twitter Blue is a new service that was launched by Musk recently. If one subscribes to it that means the account is not only a verified one but there are a lot of other perks as well. The Blue mark was earlier given to eminent personalities only but now anyone who pays for the Twitter Blue service can get the blue tick.

Blue subscribers will get early access to more features. They will be able to edit tweets, bookmark folders, and customize app icons, and NFT profile pictures. The Subscribers will also be able to choose various colour themes for their app, give priority replies on tweets, and take out a tweet before it becomes visible to other users.

Kohli, Rohit and MS Dhoni are currently playing in the IPL for their respective franchises. While Kohli has been amongst the runs for his franchise, Rohit has taken a bit longer to warm up. An ageing MS Dhoni has altered his role. He comes in as a big hitter in the end. His cameos in the IPL 2023 have entertained the fans and it has also helped shoot up television and digital viewership numbers.
